Hey There

I see you're interested in knowing more about me... Well, you've come to right place. Below is a brief summary of who I am, what I've done, and some of my favourite things. For a more in-depth look at my work, feel free to visit the "Books" tab for my published works, and the "CV" tab for projects I've worked on and places I've worked at. Please don't have too much fun without me!

All About Me

Like many artists, my creative side blossomed in my childhood. I wrote my first (ten-page) book when I was eight, stapling the pages together and drawing the ISBN barcode on the back. I did that five more times before attempting my first novel when I was twelve. But I stopped at thirty hand-written pages. No one told me I'd spend half my time editing, and there's only so much Tipp-Ex you can use on thin A4 school paper.

When my school graciously offered free computers to my school year,  I started collecting opening chapters of novels, with no idea how to continue them. Writing became a way of exploring all the different lives I could offer myself, but I still had no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up. I wanted to be an archaeologist, a teacher, an astronaut, and, for a brief period, a hairdresser. So, I decided to be all of it. As a writer, I could, even if just in the words on my page.

In 2013, I moved to the UK from France and started my degree in Creative Writing with Screenwriting at the University of Worcester. Only seventeen at the time, imposter syndrome consumed me. Had I made the right choice?

I graduated with a first-class degree with Honours and awards, and in the feedback of my dissertation, a movie producer talked about wanting to acquire the rights to my work in progress.

But I soon found myself needing to pay the bills. And not being able to get a graduate job in the writing industry, I started work as a receptionist in a hotel, and moved to admin. During my four years in the admin world, I put my writing to one side and left it.

When the COVID lockdown left me furloughed, I decided it was time to pick it back up, to take it seriously. I started by volunteering on video game mods, like Fallout: Miami, and Cathnoquey: The Fractured Isles, and for a small indie press, Selcouth Station Press.

I grew in confidence when I got my first part-time writing gig working for Frenzoo, a mobile video game company. I picked up the odd translating job too, namely as a Localization Specialist for Impulse Gear.

When Frenzoo made me redundant in August 2023, I kept searching for a writing job that make me financially secure. And so in March 2024, I was hired by Pocket FM as an In-House Writer. But only five months into the contract, I was made redundant again.

I decided in that moment that relying on companies in the arts is not always a safe endeavour. So, I'm carving my own path, my own future.
